How to Make a Silk Flower Swag.

When Only a Swag will do...

Some wall space looks great with a large Framed Picture. Then there is always a place for Large Over Sized Silk Floral Swags. A little over a year ago I actually used these silk flowers in another swag that was in the same place. The only other thing I used was some dried flowers. Don't use dried flowers if you live in a Southern State. Just at the change of the season the dried flowers got moldy! So I had to take the swag apart. I also had to clean the silk flowers in hot soapy water and spread them out to dry. After a few days I put them away for a while. OK, it was for more than a few days... yes it was for a little more than a year.

We change things up every few years. Many times we look around the house and change positions for the art work that we've purchased over the years. Today, I decided to go back to the silk flowers to see how I could fit them together for the new and improved swag.

I hope my instructions make sense. I'll try to make them clear.

1. Lay out your Silk flowers and supplies that you'll be needing to put it all together.

2. Decide on your color pattern. Remember to break up same color lots with contrasting colors to make your wreath or swag pop!

3. Wire and tape your project together. I use twine, wire, floral tape and even yarn to secure the swag together.

4. After each step (shown in the pictures) tug a little at each step to be sure your flowers are secure. If not, tie on more twine, yarn or floral wire. Then wrap all the mechanics with floral tape.

5. When all is secure and you are happy with how the swag will hang on the wall then add wire or yarn loops, close to the back of your wreath or swag.

6. Put two to four nails in the wall and hook your loops onto the nails. Enjoy your swag!
